How Does a Guided Retreat Work?
A retreat provides an opportunity and a caring space for undertaking guided meditation, like an immersion course in a language. Meditation retreats offer practical instruction for mindfulness meditation in a shared community setting. Participants can reflect in practice and share experience connecting with others in the group.
Since ancient times all wise cultures have known the value of retreat. Time in retreat allows us to step out of life’s complexity, to listen deeply to our bodies, hearts, and mind. It is an opportunity to be with yourself, within a group setting, allowing awareness to expand, the body to quiet, the mind to clear, and an opening for insight to develop. Self-knowledge and understanding can grow as we see that we can live each moment with attention, clarity, and kindness.
Take time for yourself, in community. Our 4-hour retreat will focus on a theme and include guided movement, breath, and reflection practices, with time for connection and sharing.

Reflect & Connect: A Guided In-person Mindfulness Retreat with Heidi Bornstein
Theme: Self-Compassion
Saturday, May 10, 2025 | 10 am – 2 pm EST
Join us to practice self-compassion and find your compassionate voice. Many of us have a loud inner critic, struggle to feel worthy, and find it challenging to be kind to ourselves, especially during moments of pain.
Drawing from the science of self-compassion and the influential models of Kristin Neff and Paul Gilbert, we will share simple but transformative tools to speak to yourself with kindness, soothe your nervous system, and become your own safe harbor. Learn how to shift from harshness to inner support.
This retreat is intended to create a safe and caring space where educators are welcome to care deeply for themself. All educators are welcome. The themed 4-hour session will infuse movement, breath, guided mindfulness, and self-compassion practices.
Come and allow yourself to be cared for by others and experience connecting with others in the group, as we practice mindful awareness together.
