Webmaster – WordPress Specialist


About Us

Mindfulness Everyday is a Toronto-based, registered nonprofit dedicated to improving mental health and well-being through accessible, evidence-based mindfulness programs. We are currently developing a youth-focused, highly engaging digital platform that will offer interactive mental-health and wellness resources for young people (ages 13–24).

We are seeking a passionate and creative WordPress Specialist to support this project through the maintenance and development of our interactive youth wellness website.

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and skilled WordPress Specialist to join our team and maintain an interactive mindfulness for youth (ages 13-24) and the general organizational WordPress websites. There will be an opportunity to incorporate a Figma Design into a functioning WP site using Elementor. This role involves a blend of technical skills and a keen understanding of web design principles and user experience, to be responsible for the development, customization, and maintenance of websites built on the WordPress platform. This summer position provides a unique opportunity to work on a meaningful project, helping to develop a dynamic online platform that fosters mental health and well-being through mindfulness practices. As a WordPress Specialist, you will play a key role in designing, building, and optimizing the site’s functionality, ensuring a seamless and engaging user experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Figma Design: The original prototype design for the website was developed in Figma.
  • WordPress Development: Designing, developing, and implementing custom WordPress themes and plugins, as well as customizing existing ones to meet specific project requirements.
  • Front-end Development: Creating responsive, interactive and user-friendly interfaces with WordPress plus Elementor.
  • Website Optimization: Ensuring optimal website performance, speed, and responsiveness across various devices and browsers.
  • Security & Maintenance: Implementing security measures, conducting regular updates, backups, and troubleshooting technical issues to maintain website functionality and integrity.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Working with designers, content creators, project managers, and clients to understand requirements, provide updates, and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Troubleshooting & Support: Identifying and resolving technical issues, bugs, and performance problems promptly.
  • Staying Current: Keeping up to date with the latest WordPress trends, updates, security best practices, and web development technologies. 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must meet Canada Summer Jobs eligibility (ages 15–30 at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada).
  • Proficiency in WordPress CMS and its ecosystem.
  • Strong knowledge of programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
  • Experience with database management, particularly MySQL.
  • Familiarity with responsive design principles and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git.
  • Understanding of SEO best practices and website performance optimization techniques.
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

We are seeking a passionate and creative Educational Curriculum Writer to support this project through the creation of a comprehensive teacher manual and supporting lessons plans.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a creative and dynamic Educational Curriculum Writer to collaborate with our team on creating a comprehensive curriculum (written and PowerPoint Lesson Plans) aimed at teachers and helping professionals who work with youth (ages 13-24), based on our Mindful Edge program delivered in schools for over a decade. This summer placement offers a unique opportunity to contribute to an impactful project while developing your writing and publishing skills. As an Educational Curriculum Writer, you will work closely with our team to create a teacher resource that is relatable, engaging, and practical content that resonates with youth, empowering them with mindfulness tools to navigate life’s challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Research mindfulness concepts, techniques, and practices tailored to youth.
  • Write engaging and accessible content for the book, including practices/activities, and relatable scenarios.
  • Maintain a consistent tone and voice that speaks to a diverse teacher and youth audience.
  • Edit and refine content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with project goals.
  • Participate in team brainstorming sessions to generate creative ideas and structure the book.
  • Provide input on visuals, layout, and other design elements to enhance interactivity.

Skills You Will Develop:

  • Curriculum Writing: Hone your ability to craft compelling narratives and exercises tailored to a youth audience.

  • Enrolled or a graduate of a post-secondary program in Education, English, Creative Writing, Psychology, or a related field (required by Canada Summer Jobs guidelines).

Ideal Candidate:

  • Strong curriculum and lesson plan writing skills with a knack for storytelling and creativity.
  • An understanding of or interest in mindfulness practices and their benefits for youth.
  • Ability to connect with the experiences and challenges faced by teens and young adults.

We are seeking a passionate and creative Blog Writer to support this project through the creation of engaging age appropriate website content that utilizes engine optimization (SEO) tools.  

Position Overview:
We are seeking a creative and motivated Copy and Blog Writer to join our team for a summer placement. This role is ideal for a student passionate about writing, content creation, and social impact. As a Copy and Blog Writer, you will work closely with our team to produce engaging, high-quality content that promotes our mission of mindfulness and equity. You will gain hands-on experience in crafting persuasive copy, optimizing content for digital platforms, and contributing to meaningful projects that make a difference in communities across Canada.

Responsibilities:

  • Create blog posts, articles, and social media content to highlight our programs, initiatives, and community stories.
  • Develop promotional copy for newsletters, email campaigns, social media platforms, and website pages.
  • Research mindfulness, equity, and related topics to support content development.
  • Collaborate with team members to brainstorm and refine content ideas.
  • Optimize written materials for search engines (SEO) and social media platforms.

Videographer


About Us

We are seeking a passionate and creative Videographer to support this project through the creation of high-quality video content.

Position Overview

The Videographer will play a central role in planning, filming, and editing video content for our new youth mental-health website, by creating a comprehensive library of age-appropriate, mindfulness practice videos and guided audio files. The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in film, video production, media arts, digital media, or a related discipline, and who has access to video, audio, and editing equipment (including a green room or studio environment).

This role is ideal for a student who wants hands-on experience, a stronger portfolio, and a chance to create meaningful social-impact content for youth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, film, and edit short videos, interviews, instructional clips, and promotional content for a youth wellness website.
  • Set up and operate video, audio, and lighting equipment, including green-screen or studio setups.
  • Collaborate with our team to brainstorm concepts and ensure creative alignment with project goals.
  • Edit footage using professional editing software to produce polished, accessible content for web and social media.
  • Ensure all content is inclusive, youth-friendly, and aligned with mindfulness and mental-health messaging.
  • Manage and organize video assets and maintain a clear workflow for file storage and backups.
  • Revise content based on collaborative feedback.
  • Follow privacy, consent, and safe-production protocols.

Required Qualifications

  • Must meet Canada Summer Jobs eligibility (ages 15–30 at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada).
  • Must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in one of the following areas, or similar:
    • Film Production
    • Video Production
    • Media Arts
    • Digital Media
    • New Media
    • Cinematography
    • Post-Production / Editing
    • Visual Effects / Motion Graphics
  • Demonstrated experience with videography and video editing (projects from school, personal work, or portfolio pieces).
  • Access to recording/editing equipment, audio gear, and a green room or equivalent setup (either personal or through your institution).
  • Proficiency with editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve).
  • Strong visual storytelling skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Interest in mental health, mindfulness, youth engagement, or social-impact media (asset).
